Members of the Ural Biomedical Cluster took part again in the international exhibition-forum Healthcare of the Urals-2023

From April 11 to April 14, the fourth International specialized exhibition-forum Healthcare of the Urals – 2023 was held at the Ekaterinburg-Expo IEC, where the booths of the companies participating in the Ural Biomedical Cluster were presented again. 160 manufacturers and suppliers of medical products from 30 cities of Russia, which presented over a thousand pieces of various equipment, took part in the event.

The opening ceremony was attended by Aleksey Shmykov, First Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region, Alla Samoilova, Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare (Roszdravnadzor), and Boris Kirillov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District. On behalf of the head of the region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, First Deputy Governor Aleksey Shmykov delivered a welcoming speech.

«This is already the fourth exhibition-forum dedicated to the most important aspects of healthcare development. It originated here and has become traditional. I am very pleased that so many well-known specialists, prominent scientists, experts, and healthcare leaders are participating in it. I am sure that the interest in this event will grow every year, and the results of the industry specific exhibition will be another step in the development of our medicine, improving its quality and accessibility,«noted Aleksey Shmykov.

The head of Roszdravnadzor Alla Samoilova expressed confidence that the exhibition would provide an opportunity for direct interaction between medical manufacturers and real consumers.

«Every year we can see more and more Russian-made goods at this exhibition. It's great! This suggests that our industry is developing, and our health care institutions do not feel the need for equipment and can now be fully equipped with Russian equipment. I am sure that today's exhibition will give birth to new ideas, new productions,» said Alla Samoilova.

In 2023, the Ural Biomedical Cluster admitted a collective member – the Association of Medical and Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of the Sverdlovsk Region, which unites 17 companies – leading Ural developers and manufacturers of import-substituting medical and pharmaceutical products. The companies that are members of the Association are active market participants, operating in accordance with the highest quality standards and investing in the latest scientific developments. Their products are competitive and can meet the needs of the Sverdlovsk Region by 100% in many of the most socially significant areas of regional healthcare.

The booth of the Cluster’s base enterprise, the pharmaceutical plant Medsintez, presented their own biotechnological drugs – genetically engineered human insulin of the Rosinsulin line, analog insulins Rosinsulin Aspart R and Rosinsulin Glargine from their own substance and the first Russian drug of human follicle-stimulating hormone for the treatment of infertility Primapur. Also, a wide range of infusion solutions and the original domestic antiviral drug Triazavirin, effective against a wide range of RNA viral diseases, such as influenza, SARS and COVID-19, were presented at the booth. The production facilities of the Medsintez Plant are able to meet 100% of Russia's needs for vital insulin and FSH preparations, as well as for an antiviral drug that can provide serious support to the country during epidemics and pandemics of RNA viral infections. In 2023, the company is preparing to release the first Russian insulins for veterinary use.

At the most notable booth of the exhibition, ZAO Zavod EMA, the leader among manufacturers of LED medical lamps in Russia, presented its products. The company produces equipment for physiotherapy and bactericidal recirculators. The main products of the plant are EMALED medical lamps designed to illuminate the surgical field during surgical operations, diagnostic studies and dressings. The key component of the EMALED line of lamps is LED technology – LED bundles, which, unlike traditional incandescent lamps, are not heat emitters and have high color rendering quality with a service life of up to 60,000 hours. The physiotherapy equipment of Zavod EMA is represented by the Polus line of low-frequency magnetotherapy devices, the electrotherapy device (galvanizer) Potok 1, as well as the ultraviolet stationary irradiator OUFNU.

At the exhibition space, one could also see the booth of the RASTER company, a developer and manufacturer of high-quality disinfectants in liquid, granular and tablet form, skin antiseptics and liquid soap. Besides that, the company also produces aerosol equipment for volumetric disinfection. RASTER LLC is part of the RASTER group of companies, which has been specializing in the field of commercial sanitation since 1991. During this time, RASTER has become a major wholesale supplier of modern disinfectants for healthcare facilities, enterprises of collective users and food industry.  Along with disinfectants for professional use, the group of companies produces and markets SANITEKA household chemicals. 

Medical Association Otdel Meditsinskoi Tekhniki is the largest enterprise in the market of suppliers of medical equipment and consumables at its booth presented a high-tech functional bed designed for use in intensive care units, as well as for general patient care and rehabilitation in other specialized departments. The main products are medical, laboratory, pharmacy furniture, massage tables, medical mattresses, cabinet furniture for doctors' offices, etc. In addition to the production of furniture, the company sells a large amount of equipment, consumables to cover the needs of any healthcare institution. 

At the booth of the Ural instrument-engineering plant, one could see a line of artificial lung ventilation devices. Including a high-end mobile ALV device for adults and children, where data can be transmitted through a wireless interface, as well as a universal ALV device for patients weighing from 0.3 kg to 250 kg. That is, the equipment can be used for newborns with low and extremely low birth weight.

Medin-Ural LLC presented a wide range of surgical instruments at its booth. The company has been manufacturing and developing a wide range of medical products for more than 30 years: implants and instruments for neurosurgery and spinal surgery, as well as instruments for microsurgery and ophthalmology. Innovative materials and special alloys from the world's leading manufacturers are used for production. Thanks to the long experience of partnerships with leading clinics in Russia, the manufactured products are continuously being modified and new instruments and implants are being developed. Innovative engineering solutions are integrated into production in the shortest possible time and introduced into production samples.

Also, the visitors of the exhibition had the opportunity to visit the booth of the Cluster member — State Autonomous Healthcare Institution of the Sverdlovsk Region «Sverdlovsk Regional Oncological Dispensary» — the leading medical center in the region, which provides specialized high-tech assistance in the field of oncology to residents of the Sverdlovsk Region. On the basis of the oncological center, all advanced methods for the diagnosis and treatment of tumor diseases have been accumulated. Every year, doctors perform over 22,400 surgeries, 29,200 chemotherapy courses and 8,100 radiation therapy courses. The doctors of the regional oncological dispensary improve their knowledge and skills, train primary care specialists in new methods of treating and diagnosing oncological diseases, and give classes for patients and their relatives. The most important task of the oncological dispensary is to make modern medical oncological care affordable and high-quality. The Sverdlovsk Regional Oncological Dispensary is focused on the highest world standards.

The developer and manufacturer of radio-electronic equipment, the Tronitech company, presented at the booth of the Association a miniature physiotherapy analgesic device NEURODENS-Akson, effective for relieving pain of any origin. The product range of the company includes a whole line of universal and specialized devices for home and professional physiotherapy based on 2 technologies – dynamic electrical neurostimulation (DENS) and neuron-like dynamic electrical neurostimulation (NEURODENS). Specialized devices are designed for the treatment of acute and chronic pain in the joints, back, for the treatment of pain in the neck and shoulder girdle, for the correction of blood pressure, the correction of age-related changes in the skin of the face, etc.

Innovative products under the trademark DEZITOL were presented at the exhibition by the developer and manufacturer, the Ural Nanotechnology Center. DEZITOL products are designed to protect against the transmission and development of infections and are successfully used in various areas with increased sanitary requirements. Currently, the manufactured products have successfully passed long-term full-scale tests and are actively used in medical institutions of the Russian Federation. In accordance with the letter from the Research Institute of Disinfectology of Rospotrebnadzor, the composition of the DEZITOL A skin antiseptic allows it to be used to prevent infection caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus and other viral infections. At the booth, it was possible to disinfect hands with the DEZITOL A skin antiseptic, feel the effect of fast action (30 seconds is enough to treat hands) and comfort in use. Also, visitors to the exhibition noted the variety of forms of this antiseptic.

The production company Vector-MS, which specializes in the development and production of equipment for cardiology, cardiac surgery, functional diagnostics, physiotherapy, traumatology and rehabilitation, successfully demonstrated its products at the booth. The company presented the EKS-VP-3 «Vector-MS» pacemaker for temporary cutaneous (transcutaneous), transesophageal and endocardial electrical stimulation of the heart in emergency care for patients with severe bradycardia who are in serious condition due to extensive myocardial damage with severe disorders of central hemodynamics, which is part of a whole line of pacemakers manufactured by Vector-MS.

The Medin-N company presented a unique for Russia production of absorbable surgical suture materials, means for rehabilitation in traumatology, devices used in the IVF procedure. The company offers more than two thousand combinations of absorbable and non-absorbable surgical sutures, as well as needles of various lengths and diameters. The company sells absorbable surgical products of its own manufacture: braided surgical sutures Sabfil and Sabfil Plus based on the polyglycolic and polylactic acids, absorbable monofilaments based on polydioxanone «Sabmon», absorbable monofilaments Soft Lift based on a copolymer of the lactic acid and ε-Caprolactone with notches for cosmetology, absorbable screws and pins for osteosynthesis. Polymer materials produced by OOO Medin-N are used by Leypunsky Institute of Physics and Power Engineering (IPPE) in the manufacture of absorbable strands for brachytherapy of prostate cancer. The booth also featured a line of medical products: a set for infusion into the small veins of newborns, an endoloop for laparoscopic operations, needles for transvaginal follicle puncture, sets for vitrification of embryos/oocytes.

Medical Technologies Production Plant “ZMT” produces a wide range of disposable surgical sets of linen and clothing, medical bags, disposable medical products for laboratories and plastic medical products. At the booth of the Association, the company showed vacuum tubes for taking venous blood and urine. The tubes are produced with precisely dosed vacuum and its preservation during the entire shelf life. The content of the filler is strictly dosed to the volume of blood indicated on the test tube. The purpose of the tube is determined by the color indicator. A wide range of sample volumes allows rational use of products in work.

The medical specialists who visited the exhibition showed interest and expressed their gratitude to the Ural Biomedical Cluster company for the availability, variety and high quality of its products. To date, the Cluster includes 30 member companies. Strategic goal of the Ural Biomedical Cluster is to form a high-tech complex of interconnected production and infrastructure facilities for development, production and sale of modern medicines, medical equipment and high-quality medical devices in the Urals region.
