The First Children's Polyclinic is 10 years old!

On April 6, the First Children's Polyclinic in the Akademichesky District celebrated its 10th anniversary. During this time, the institution has become a flagship of high-quality and affordable medical care for children, serving 33,083 young patients. The polyclinic was created by the initiative of the Ural Biomedical Cluster and the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region and became a successful example of public-private partnership.

The polyclinic fulfills the state order in full and provides pre-medical, medical and specialized primary health care to the children's population free of charge within the framework of compulsory medical insurance.

Growth and development

• Over decades of operation, the First Children's Polyclinic has significantly expanded its scope of activities:
• The number of districts covered by childhealth care has increased from 6 to 31.
• The institution serves 8 schools and 14 kindergartens.
• There are 252 on-staff employees, including 216 health care professionals.
• Over 3 million visits have been made within 10 years.
• The polyclinic provides assistance to 583 children with limited health abilities, which is an order of magnitude higher than the average number of children with LHA in the region.
• In 2022, a new branch opened in the Polesie microdistrict, designed for 10,000 children.

Technology and comfort

The polyclinic is equipped with modern high-tech medical equipment, mainly Russian-made, and provides comfortable conditions for visitors and health care professionals. Everything necessary for providing high-quality medical care – attendance, the whole range of examinations: laboratory, functional, radiation diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray) and treatment are in one place.

The institution is open seven days a week and uses Lean Polyclinic technologies: from the moment of opening, an «open registration office» has been operating, there is an electronic information board, navigation, playrooms, a room for breast feeding babies, a pram storage room, a comfort zone, the patient flows are divided, there is a single Call Center, unified electronic medical record is kept.

The polyclinic employs highly qualified specialists. In addition to district pediatricians, patients are attended by specialists in 15 specialties, such as an allergist-immunologist, gastroenterologist, pediatric gynecologist, dermatovenerologist, pediatric cardiologist, rheumatologist, neurologist, nephrologist, otolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, orthopedic traumatologist, urologist-andrologist, surgeon, pediatric endocrinologist, pulmonologist.

Plans for the future

Given the forecast growth of the child population in the Akademichesky District to 86,000 people by 2035, new projects to expand the medical infrastructure are already being developed.
