National Pharmaceutical Security is the Work of the Youth: Medsintez Plant at the International Youth Festival

On September 11–17, 2026, Ekaterinburg hosted the International Youth Festival, a large-scale event that brought together 10,000 young leaders from 191 countries. At the festival running under the motto «Follow Your Dream,» the Medsintez Plant presented its exhibition, showcasing the achievements of the Ural pharmaceutical industry in the field of import substitution.

The company's exhibition booth became one of the key venues of the festival, attracting the attention of high-ranking officials, namely Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, and Tatiana Savinova, Deputy Governor and Minister of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region. During the visit, the Medsintez Plant's representatives presented current developments and promising projects aimed at ensuring Russia's pharmaceutical security.

The exhibition booth highlighted the key areas of the company operation. It is important to note that the Medsintez Plant operates four technological platforms: biotechnological, organic, solid-phase peptide, and combined synthesis. These platforms serve as a foundation for the sequential creation of entire ranges of medications for critically important areas of healthcare.

Diabetes Mellitus Medications

Medications for treatment of diabetes mellitus took the core place at the exhibition booth. The Medsintez Plant presented its comprehensive range of ROSINSULIN products, including recombinant human insulin and its analogues synthesized from company's proprietary active pharmaceutical ingredients. Additionally, the company showcased the hypoglycemic agent Semaglutide Medsintez (semaglutide), a human glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist for treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes. The medication is available in the form of an autoinjector to administer subcutaneously once a week. The launch of full-cycle production of this drug is scheduled for the end of 2026 with the support from the Industrial Development Fund.

Infertility Treatment Medications

The company demonstrated its entire range of products for assisted reproductive technologies. Among them was Primapur®, the first Russian recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) drug used in IVF procedures and included in the list of vital and essential drugs. More than 50,000 children have already been born following Primapur® therapy. The display also featured a human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) drug and the human gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist EKACET (cetrorelix) which was registered in 2026 as a solution in an automatic syringe pen for the entire treatment course.

Triazavirin® Antiviral Drug

TRIAZAVIRIN® (riamilovir), an original domestic direct-acting antiviral drug developed by Ural scientists, was one of the highlights of the company's exhibition booth. The defining feature of the drug is its direct impact on viral replication processes in the human body. TRIAZAVIRIN® features a broad spectrum of antiviral activity against RNA viruses, including influenza, ARVI, and COVID-19.

Currenlty, TRIAZAVIRIN® also holds a special place in the current medical guidelines framework. Riamilovir is included in the clinical guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for influenza, ARVI, and COVID-19 prevention, as well as in the standards of medical care for patients with influenza and ARVI.

A vital milestone in the development of the drug was the introduction of a 100 mg pediatric dosage in 2025 for children aged 6 to 17 years. In 2026, the drug was included in the updated clinical guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for treatment of ARVI in children. Thus, TRIAZAVIRIN® continues to develop in step with current pressing challenges of practical healthcare, evolving from an adult-focused medication to a product line with a dedicated dosage for school-aged children.
