On September 3–4, 2026, Nizhny Novgorod hosted the 2nd Regional Endocrinological Congress: Challenges and Prospects of the Volga Region, with the active participation of the Medsintez Plant. As a strategic company, Medsintez Plant has been ensuring Russia's pharmaceutical security for 25 years. Company's exhibition booth showcased a range of hormonal medications for treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, as well as drugs for infertility treatment through the IVF method.
The congress brought together 1,075 participants from various regions of Russia and the neighboring countries, including Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. The event gathered endocrinologists, general practitioners, pediatricians, cardiologists, professors of medical universities, and staff physicians.
Diabetes Mellitus Treatment: Full-Cycle Production
The Medsintez Plant implements a full production cycle for the entire range of Rosinsulin products based on recombinant human insulin and its analogues synthesized from proprietory active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) thus ensuring stable supplies of critically important medicines for Russian diabetes patients. Additionally, since 2023, in cooperation with the Promomed Group of Companies, the the Medsintez Plant has been producing the hypoglycemic agents liraglutide and semaglutide for treatment of type 2 diabetes, successfully covering the gap in the market for this category.
Leveraging its state-of-the-art technological platforms, the plant continues to expand its range of diabetes products. As part of the congress research program supported by Medsintez Plant LLC, Irina Ulyanova, MD, PhD, Chief Physician of the Endocrinological Research Center, delivered a presentation titled «Clinical and Pharmacoeconomic Aspects of Semaglutide Treatment of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes».
The key highlight of company's exhibition booth was Semaglutide Medsintez (INN: semaglutide), a human glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue for treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The drug provides reliable glycemic control and promotes weight loss; it is available in an automatic syringe pen (autoinjectors) and is administered subcutaneously once a week. The launch of full-cycle production of this drug is scheduled for the end of 2026 with the support from the Industrial Development Fund.
In addition, Medsintez Plant's booth featured other developments in once-weekly treatments for type 2 diabetes. These include dulaglutide, a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist; tirzepatide, a dual receptor agonist that activates two metabolism-regulating pathways simultaneously: GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide (GIP); and insulin icodec, the world's first ultra-long-acting basal insulin.
The Medsintez Plant possesses its own proprietary technology of manufacturing syringe pens designed for any administered doses ranging from a few microliters to 0.5 ml, including autoinjectors. The pre-filled pen is a patient-friendly dosage form of ready-to-use subcutaneous medications. Physicians highlighted the user-friendliness of the autoinjector, praising in particular its smooth injection mechanism.
Infertility Treatment: Full Range of IVF Medications
Since 2018, in cooperation with IVFarma, the Medsintez Plant has been implementing a biotechnological project to produce Primapur®, the first Russian recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) medication for treatment of human infertility. The medication is used in infertility treatments through IVF techniques and is included in the list of vital and essential drugs.
The Medsintez Plant was the first in Russia to launch the production of disposable FSH pre-filled syringe pens. The manufacturing capacity stands at 150 grams of API per year, which exceeds the Russian market demand eightfold. The medicine is used by more than 80% of medical centers specializing in infertility treatment across Russia. Currently, over 50,000 children have been born following the therapy involving this medication.
The company also sets up production of other hormonal medications such as recombinant human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) and human gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist cetrorelix that are used within assisted reproductive technology (ART). In 2026, the latter was registered under the trade name EKACET and is supplied as a solution in an automatic syringe pen designed for the entire course of treatment, which is highly convenient for patients. Creating a comprehensive range of infertility treatment drugs will ensure Russia's pharmaceutical security in this area and eliminate dependence on foreign supplies.
Triazavirin® Antiviral Drug
In addition to hormonal medications, the Medsintez Plant manufactures Triazavirin®, a direct-acting antiviral drug developed by Ural scientists based on an proprietary molecule. The drug is included in the federal clinical guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for treatment of influenza and ARVI, as well as the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. Since 2025, the drug has been registered in a new 100 mg dosage for school-aged children, providing pediatricians with a new causal treatment for ARVI in children. The Medsintez Plant has potential to provide a substantial support to the country during epidemics and pandemics of viral infections.
Participation in regional congresses allows the Medsintez Plant not only to present its achievements but also to receive feedback from practicing physicians, which serves as a basis for further product portfolio expansion and enhancement of the consumer properties of manufactured goods.
