Medsintez Plant becomes a strategic partner of the 3d Scientific and Practical Conference The Ural Peaks

The 3d Scientific and Practical Conference The Ural Peaks. Respiratory Infections 2025 was held in Ekaterinburg on October 15–16 as part of the 4th International Forum Days of Virology 2025. The event organized by the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region, the Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza, and the Ural State Medical University brought together over 1,100 participants in person and online from 36 cities across Russia.

During the conference, leading Russian experts in infectious diseases, virology, and epidemiology shared the latest findings on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of respiratory diseases, including the role of the antiviral drug TRIAZAVIRIN® in modern clinical practice.

The presentation of Professor Dmitry Lioznov described updates to the Clinical Guidelines, where the antiviral drug TRIAZAVIRIN® had achieved a high position (first highest level) based on expert assessment. He also announced the registration of a new 100 mg dosage form for children aged 6–17 years and the successful international experience of using the drug in South Africa. Professor Vladimir Gorodin shared the positive results of using TRIAZAVIRIN® for the treatment of dengue fever and noted the effectiveness of the drug for accelerating patient recovery.

Kira Ageeva, Candidate of Medical Sciences, highlighted the high effectiveness of the drug for COVID-19 and ARVIs prevention, which had led to its inclusion in the current 19th version of the temporary guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19. Professors Alebay Sabitov and Ekaterina Makarova emphasized the importance of timely etiotropic therapy and the role of the antiviral drug TRIAZAVIRIN® as a first-line drug for the treatment and prevention of respiratory infections in children and adults.

Additionally, a roundtable discussion Antiviral Drugs from Concept to Packaging was held on October 16 as part of the Scientific and Practical Conference. Alexander Petrov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Medsintez Plant LLC and Candidate of Economic Sciences, presented the data of the report Trends in the Pharmaceutical Market in Russia: Realities, Forecasts, and Solutions, which covered development trends and challenges in modern scenarios of the pharmaceutical industry.

The global issues include dependence on foreign Big Pharma, import and domestic political peculiarities of Russia, such as limited adoption of innovative drugs, rising inflation, and consequently, a large share of generic drugs in the market. Thus, we are facing high financial and time risks along with low profitability in critical segments.

A favorable trend would be to set a target of achieving 70% domestic drug market share in monetary terms by 2030. This scenario is feasible if we adhere to the strategy of collaboration between research institutes that develop innovative molecules, support clinical trials of new promising drugs, and government initiatives that support private capital and provide incentives.

«Domestic pharmaceutical innovations as a cornerstone of national drug security requires development of drugs, analysis of promising biotargets, conducting scientific research, and a list of joint projects and proposals for the development of drugs, including financial support mechanisms. This can ensure an increase in the number of companies driving innovation and production of critically needed new drugs,» said Alexander Petrov.

The 3d Scientific and Practical Conference The Ural Peaks. Respiratory Infections 2025 dedicated to topical interdisciplinary issues of providing medical care to patients with infectious diseases became a significant event and a platform for the exchange of health care professionals' experience.
